At Wayne Township Adult Education (WTAE) immigrants and refugees walk into our school to learn English. Many of our students have a desire to become citizens. On August 10, WTAE launched a Citizenship Class designed to equip 30 students with the information and vocabulary needed to master content on the 100 questions posed at
interview.
After having raised her kids and deciding to enter the workforce, Christina Bailey had an
interest in working within the school system. She entered our Parapro program, where she quickly learned the skills to pass the Parapro exam and become eligible to work as a paraprofessional educator in Wayne Township schools.
Mariama Adamou China entered our ELL program in level one in February 2017 and progressed all the way to the HSE Foundations class in one school year! She came to the United States in September 2016 from Niger.
Mariama says that before Wayne Township Adult Education, "I didn’t feel comfortable when I spoke to others." After being in the program for just a little over a year she says, "I feel confident in speaking."
