WHAT'S YOUR STORY?
Inspirational Stories from our Students in Wayne Adult Education...

Meet Susan...
Susan started out with us last year with the goal of sharpening her skills to be able to help her grandkids with their homework.  Soon she discovered that, since she was already learning the skills necessary to pass the TASC test, she wanted to pursue her HSE.  After that, she learned about the career training options available and decided to pursue MOS certification! She accomplished BOTH of those goals, and she even spoke at our graduation ceremony!  Now you can see her in our classrooms working as a paraprofessional, helping students just like her. Way to give back to others, Susan!  You are a great example of students who experience success with our program then use those skills to help others succeed!
DID YOU KNOW?

FREE COMPUTER SKILLS CLASS
Do you need help understanding email or navigating the internet? Or how about saving a document and retrieving it later? Would you just like to learn the proper keyboarding techniques? We have a computer class at BDU that can help you with these and other skills, such as writing a resume or applying for a job! Classes are held every Wednesday and Thursday from 12:30pm - 3:30pm, and, as always, classes are completely FREE!

ONLINE RESOURCES
Many students ask for extra practice outside of class, so we provide accounts like IXL.com to all students who enroll with us. Wayne Adult Education pays for these accounts for students to support their classroom learning. But did you know that there are also some excellent FREE online resources available as well? Tasctest.com and Khanacademy.org are two great FREE online resources...Just click the links to try them out!

NEW ENGLISH LEARNERS...WHAT'S HAPPENING IN ELA?

BURLINGTON ENGLISH

Students in ELA classes have the opportunity to practice speaking English through a program called Burlington English. Burlington English listens to your speech and gives feedback on how the words are pronounced.  It also offers both academic skills practice as well as employability skills practice to help students with those job skills like applying for jobs and creating a resume.  Burlington English can be used at home or at school, and now there is even an app for smart phones!
